The Train Journey 

Enjoy a relaxing, scenic heritage train ride tracking alongside the picturesque Don River. The return journey takes approximately 45 minutes, making it the perfect duration for families, children, and railway enthusiasts alike. Our trains run in all weather conditions, providing a fantastic day out year-round.

Explore the Museum and Precinct

Before or after your train ride, take the time to explore our extensive open-air museum and workshop viewing areas. Wander through our collection of heritage locomotives, passenger carriages, and authentic railway memorabilia that proudly showcase Tasmania's rail history.

Planning Your Visit

We are a proud family-friendly and dog-friendly site! Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you for the train ride and to explore the grounds. Families with young children are highly encouraged to visit, though please note that only folded prams can be accommodated on board our heritage carriages.

As a true historical site, visitors will encounter authentic vintage train carriages with steps and tight doorways, as well as gravelled and uneven ground throughout the open-air museum. Our dedicated volunteer crew is always on hand and will make their absolute best efforts to assist all passengers in boarding and alighting to ensure you have a wonderful visit.
